This painting is very special to me. The mother hummingbird was one of the best models I have ever worked with. She sat on her nest for weeks and was always ready to be painted. To me this painting represents the cycle of life. The mother whose children will burst forth and blossom are represented by the nest and the red rose. Meanwhile, the mother (as we all) will continue her life to its' end represented by the spent rose on the left leaving her children to carry on.
